Carpool is a new video game studio based both in Paris and Montpellier, with a passion for creating the most innovative and exciting multiplayer games. Created by industry veterans and gathering a human-sized talented team from diverse background and culture, our team is all about bringing life to our unique ideas and focus on AAA execution.

Our first project is a brand-new hybrid genre mixing strategy and fast paced action into a PvP experience. But more than a game, our objective is to create a new IP with transmedia opportunities to expand our narrative and go beyond the video game market.

Main responsibilities

As a Technical Pipeline Director, you will be the technical relay of the data makers in the production. You will lead and implement data technical solutions such as creation pipelines while providing technical guidance to the rest of the data team. You’ll work closely at the crossline of design team and programmers.


You’ll also monitor data impact on performances and version packaging process. Your knowledge, helpfulness, and adaptability will make you an indispensable member of the team.


Reporting to the Technical Director Engine, you :

  • Collaborate with tech and design teams to determine technical feasibility and develop the needed data creation pipelines
  • Monitor cooking process as well as data impact on performances and you take necessary actions (blueprints, collisions, textures, etc.)
  • Provide support and technical guidance to data makers (Level designers, Game Designers, etc.)
  • Assess existing tools and occasionally design custom ones to support data pipelines and workflows
  • Meet with programmers to share information and updates, enforce standards, set benchmarks, give feedback, etc.
  • Represent the entire data team in technical discussions and requirements gathering
  • Set up frameworks for collaboration with external studios with different levels of integration

Job requirements

Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Technical knowledge especially in algorithmic and nodal programming;
  • Familiar with the industry processes and techniques;
  • Autonomous;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Proactive and results orientated. Able to challenge and be challenged.
  • Jira/confluence expertise
  • Knowledgeable, skillful and experienced in continuous improvement and optimization of processes and workflows
  • A creative problem-solver with good analytical skills and critical thinking
  • Excellent written and oral English communication skills

Relevant Experience

  • Proven technical director and data sanity check experience within game development team and processes
  • Experience in various production phases of a game : pre-production, production, live events, release…
  • Experience in the video game industry and Unreal Engine is essential.
